Lehrinhalt

The course is an independent study and offer students an opportunity to undertake an individual project supervised by a faculty member for topics that exceeds coursework in the curriculum. Students will design and conduct a research project relevant to their own interest - this may be a field or lab based project and is supervised individually by an academic advisor.
This course is open to students taking (or have completed) one or more of these lectures:
958317 Organic fruit production and organic viticulture (Spornberger)
958348 Biology and Physiologie of the grapevine (Forneck)
958349 Advanced vineyard management (Herrera)
958347 genetic control of secondary metabolites in perennial crop plants (Griesser)
958346 Risikoanalyse im Weinbau (Molitor)
958341 Traditional and molecular aspects of Grapevine Breeding (Anhalt)

Inhaltliche Voraussetzungen (erwartete Kenntnisse)

Only for Master students.
This course is open to student having successfully completed or attending one of the above mentioned courses.

Lehrziel

Upon completion of this class students will:
- gain experience in designing a valid research project, generate a hypothesis and devise suitable protocols in order to test that hypothesis, collect and analyze data,
- exercise appropriate self-reliance, initiative and time management
-apply valid research principles to the analysis and solution of practical/applied problems
-select and evaluate appropriate literature to critically discuss original research findings.
