This course introduces into methods for the analysis of historical and contemporary social-ecological transformation processes, with a focus on qualitative social-ecological research. Inputs on qualitative research design, data collection (e.g., semi-structured interviews, expert interviews, focus groups, archival work) and data analysis (e.g., policy analysis, discourse analysis, historical source analysis) should help the students to develop their own research projects to analyze potentials and barriers for social-ecological transformations.
Lehrziel

After the successful completion of the course, participants
-understand the potential of different qualitative methods for the analysis of transformation processes
-have basic knowledge on how to conduct qualitative social research on social-ecological transformations
-are able to apply qualitative social-ecological methods to develop individual research designs
