Lehrinhalt

The course integrates geographical information systems (GIS) with hydrological applications, providing practical skills for analyzing water-related challenges. Through theoretical foundations and applied exercises, students learn to use GIS tools to investigate different water systems globally.
The course covers the application of standard GIS tools including spatial joins, overlay, and buffer operations. Students will master mapping and visualization of GIS data and results. The curriculum addresses practical hydrological applications such as catchment and stream network delineation, flood hazard/risk assessment, and analysis of spatio-temporal trends in vegetation.
QGIS serves as the primary software platform, with R/RStudio available as an optional tool for advanced analysis.
