Lehrinhalt

Social Ecology supports sustainable development, the transformation to a low-carbon society and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through its unique inter- and transdisciplinary concepts and methods in the fields of social metabolism (material and energy flow analysis), land-use science (e.g. the human appropriation of net primary production), long-term socio-ecological research and environmental history, socioecological transformation research, as well as integrated socioecological and technoeconomic modelling.

This research workshop is part of the Doctoral School Social Ecology (DSSE). It provides a forum for DSSE students to discuss their ongoing doctoral research among themselves and with the DSSE faculty. It is organized as a retreat where students and faculty members can meet informally. The research workshop consists of presentation of PhD students that aim to expose the difficulties they are confronted with in their research, in order to enable faculty members and peers to discuss possible ways forward. These discussions are aimed at supporting the ongoing research of PhD students. Another goal is community-building among students and faculty members.

Lehrziel

•Progress with ongoing doctoral research of PhD students
•Team-building of faculty and students
•Progress in socio-ecological theory, methodology and discussion
•Improved presentation skills
