Lehrinhalt

Selected bacteria, biofilm diseases and viruses are highlighted in the context of infectious diseases. Microbial diseases are presented according to the human body. The following issues are presented for each disease: disease’s cause, portal of entry, symptoms, incubation period, transmission, and susceptible populations. A focus is also on the immunology of host-microbe interactions as well as treatment, therapies, and prevention of microbial infectious diseases.

Schäffer:
- selected bacterial infectious diseases (e.g., Gram-positive cocci, Gram-positive bacter with rudimentary filaments, Gram-negative cocci, Spirochaetes)
- host-microbe interactions (resident microbiota, host defense, phagocytosis, natural killer cells, specific immunity)

Mayer-Reinprecht:
- selected viral infectious diseases (e.g., HIV, Influenza, Herpes, Hepatitis A,B,C, HPV)
- prophylaxis, treatments and therapeutics

Bloch:
- Bacterial life-style associated with diseases
- Infection biology
- Biofilms

Inhaltliche Voraussetzungen (erwartete Kenntnisse)
