Lehrinhalt

Climate change and resource use are closely related: the energy system, infrastructure, agriculture and forestry, the transport system – all of those require the use of natural resources and thereby contribute significantly to the emission of GHG (greenhouse gases). Addressing the sustainability issues related to climate change and resource use often needs to tackle similar problems, although both policy fields also have their specificities. This seminar is focused on analyzing the scientific backgrounds behind climate and resource policy. It will moreover also look at their commonalities and differences, thereby helping students to understand possible synergies and tradeoffs. Both fields are large, therefore an exemplary approach based on selected current literature is chosen. In the seminar, current research articles as well as parts of influential reports and a policy statement on climate change and resource use are read, analyzed and presented by students.
