This course goes above and beyond the introductory and mid-level hydrological courses. It covers recent developments and advances in the field of hydrology and integrated water resources management. The course covers different topics. Potential topics cover (but are not limited to) "the potential of artificial intelligence in hydrology and water management", "predictions in ungauged basins", "novel hyrological measurement techniques", and "advanced methods in hydrological modelling".
Short introductions will be provided by the lecturers on selected topics at the beginning of the course. Based on the individual interests of registered M.Sc. and PhD students, participants will chose one topic from a pool of research themes to study in detail, present and discuss them in class and write a short term paper.

At the end of the course, the students will be able to:
- elucidate recent developments and advances in the field of hydrology.
- describe current, state-of-the-art techniques that are applied to hydrological research.
- in a scientific forum, present the latest findings found in the literature, with the correct citations, and bibliography.
- critically reflect on AI (i.e. ChatGPT) generated text.
