Agroecology has evolved from purely natural sciences into an interdisciplinary social and natural science discipline that also encompasses social movements and practices. Agroecology has thereby become firmly established in debates on agricultural and food systems and has gained relevance in national and international scientific and civil society discourses as well as in political positions and legal texts. In this course, students learn to reflect on the systemic character of agricultural and food systems on the basis of agroecological discourses and to discuss approaches for their sustainable transformation.
