Dear Participants,
this year, the Seminar in Biotechnology focuses on the pervasive question: "AI in biotechnology - vision, reality, disappointed expectations?"

We envision an integral, collaborative approach, including several fields (colours) of biotechnology to shed light on the current role of AI. We hope you can relate to the interpretation and communication of one or of several of these! The subtopics will soon be published in BOKUlearn.

The topics for the presentation will be presented and distributed among registered students during the introductory meeting that will be held on March 16th 2026 at 11 AM online (https://bokuvienna.zoom.us/j/62529193637?pwd=shrpIbo8W7ZqiYfcvg5oVonf17BTHa.1). Students are expected to prepare a 15-min-presentation of the chosen topic and actively participate in discussions and in providing feedback to their colleagues. The seminar session will take place on May 4th, from 10 AM.
Please note that you have to attend all talks to obtain your grade.
Inhaltliche Voraussetzungen (erwartete Kenntnisse)

Completed baccalaureate degree.
Basic understanding of biotechnology.

The students who will succesfully complete this course will be able to:
- describe, compare and correlate the advances in a specific emerging field of biotechnology.
- summarize, critically evaluate and present a scientific publication in a short and concise way to a broader audience.
- demonstrate presentation skills, participate in scientific discussions and respectfully provide feedback to colleagues.
