Lehrinhalt

Mathematical modeling provides a quantitative, systematic approach to describe, predict, and test hypotheses about biological systems. This course teaches how to build, analyze, and validate models for problems such as bacterial population growth, crop-yield prediction, and the spread of infectious diseases. We cover analytical techniques and numerical simulation, with hands‑on implementation and validation using reproducible computational workflows.

Lehrziel

The primary learning goal is the ability to describe processes and problems from the life sciences in the language of mathematics (i.e., to model them) and, by analyzing those models with appropriate mathematical methods, to derive results that can be interpreted for practical applications. Fitting the developed models to real data is performed and practiced using computer-assisted tools.
