Lehrinhalt

Starting in Winterterm 25/26, the course "Drafting and Designing Details" (previously "Entwurf und Gestaltung von Details") will be conducted in English.

This course explores the art and science of landscape architectural design across multiple scales.
A successful project is distinguished by its design quality at every level of scale, from the concept to the detail.
As part of the course, students work in teams to develop a design idea (e.g. for a competition), create a draft plan and refine it into an implementation plan including a cost estimate. Care is taken to maintain the context-related design qualities from the idea and concept down to the details.
The topic is to design a temporary garden for an international garden festival.
Finally the designs will be submitted to one of two international garden festivals, where they will be evaluated by a jury.
In case of winning and successfully delivered executable plans on time, the garden will be shown at the festivals in 2026.

Participating Garden Festivals and Themes:
20th Festival Internacional de Jardins in Ponte de Lima, Portugal 2026: "Gardens of Dreams"
15th Festival de Xardins in Allariz, Galicia, Spain 2026: "Gardens as a Space of Freedom"
.
