The course will provide content on structural causes of the climate crisis. The aim is to get a general understanding of social inequalities contributing to the climate crisis as well as an agency-based processing of the climate crisis. This year’s course will be connected to the FWF Connecting Mind research project “Transforming climate-social futures”.

• Identify and differentiate different theoretical approaches within political ecology analyzing causes and consequences of the climate crisis
• Apply a qualitative method (expert interviews) in combination with a theoretical political ecology perspective
• Create and implement a qualitative research design targeting a conflict within the climate crisis by writing a seminar paper using a political ecology perspective together with a qualitative method for its investigation
• Learn how to prepare and conduct group work, taking different roles as lead and team member. Train clear communication, time management, independent work, and presentation of outcomes.
