Lehrinhalt

Sludge treatment wetlands or Sludge Treatment Reed Beds (STRBs) are a nature-based technology used for dewatering and mineralization of municipal WWTP sludge. Long-term sludge reduction takes place in an STRB’s reed -planted basins through a combination of dewatering (gravity draining, evapotranspiration) and mineralization of organic solids in the sludge.

The course covers the following topics:
- Introduction to STRB technology
- Processes
- Design and dimensioning
- Piloting and implementation
- Operation, maintenance and Monitoring
- Use of treated sludge
- Environmental benefits/impact
- Case studies
