Lehrinhalt

This elective module exercises are focused on instrumental analytical chemistry in food and biotechnology. The following 7 examples are included:

Analysis of

Major and trace elements in honey samples

Inorganic and organic arsenic species in rice

Pesticides in apple samples

Nitrate in natural water

Products and intermediates in fermentation biotechnology samples

Coumarin in tonka beans

Determination of measurement uncertainty

Inhaltliche Voraussetzungen (erwartete Kenntnisse)

Interest in chemical analytical processes

Previous laboratory experience recommended

Lehrziel

After successfully completing this elective module, students will be able to

1.Describe practical analysis concepts and their methodological principles (transmission and fluorescence photometry, liquid chromatography, electrophoresis, immunochemistry, absorption and CD spectroscopy, mass spectrometry).
2.Select biochemical analysis methods appropriately for defined research questions, apply them, present the data obtained professionally, calculate relevant biochemical parameters from them, and interpret them correctly.
3.Independently apply the acquired knowledge and the associated practical skills both theoretically and experimentally in an analytical-biochemical environment.
