Target Group:

International staff new to BOKU and their Austrian colleagues. It is helpful to attend this workshop in international/national pairs - this is not a requirement!

Objectives:

Exchanging vital information about the work place. Enhancing understanding and improving work relations. Unveiling the pitfalls of intercultural communication. Finding a common language which unites.

Content:

Addressing cultural differences relevant to the job and identifying how these affect work relations. Resolving misunderstanding by creating a supportive environment of respectful communication. Developing a basic common terminology. Creating ways to further understanding among the various cultures present at a workplace.

Methods:

Listening. Providing feedback. Observing. Reflecting and presenting.

Trainerin: Mag. Swantje Cooper

Swantje Cooper, grew up in Austria and Turkey, studied in Austria and the U.S. 1992 graduation Mag. phil. English/ Spanish Interpreting. Project management for EU projects in the area of mobility management. Translator and interpreter. Adult education trainer since 1998, lecturer at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna since 2002.
