Objectives:

Learn the fundamentals of effective visual communication
Strengthen your ability to critically analyze and improve graphics
Expand your knowledge of software tools for creating graphics

Content:

Introduction to the role and impact of graphics in proposals and publications

Principles of successful visual communication:
 - Clearly communicate the core message
 - Create a visual hierarchy: guide the eye across the graphic
 - Increase readability and ensure accessibility

Overview of software tools for creating scientific graphics

Collaborative analysis and revision of your own and predefined graphics

Methods:

Presentation with case studies
Interactive group work to analyze and improve graphics
Feedback and discussion on graphics provided

Group size: max. 30 participants

Claudia Amort, M.A.
is a scientific illustrator with degrees in biomedicine and biotechnology, as well as in scientific illustration. She specializes in the visual communication of medical and scientific content and works with researchers and physicians to effectively visualize their content. She also occasionally gives workshops and seminars where she demonstrates how to create effective scientific graphics.
