Visiting Professor Sergio Tombesi from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Piacenza (Italy)


Prof. Tombesi from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Piacenza (Italy) will be visiting the Institute of Viticulture and Pomology (Department Agricultural Science) for the period 15th to 21st of October 2025. He will give a talk about "Night temperature effects on grapevine physiology" on the 15th October 2025 (BOKU TS, ILWA SR 22) and he will be teaching in the courses AGRI302242 and AGRI302238 “Biology and Physiology of the grapevine (VS and UE) at BOKU University in Tulln.

Prof. Tombesi teaches and does research at the Department of Sustainable Crop Production – Pomology and Viticulture section. His research focus is on tree and vine crop physiology, in particular he devoted his interest to grapevine, hazel, olive, almond and peach tree. He has been PI and research unit PI of several projects on grapevine and tree fruit crops. He is in charge of the UCSC Hazelnut breeding program co-founded by Ferrero Hazelnut Company and Vivai Cooperativi Rauscedo.
