About the instrument

Pin Tool adaptor for the 96 well head of Starlet96. A unique piece of equipment combines 96 needles (0.5mm wide), with the 96 head of Hamilton Starlet96. Microorganisms (clones, mutants, isolates) can be transferred by contact transmission with this tool from liquid to solid or from solid to solid medium ( = pinning). The 0.2mm position precision of the Hamilton robot arm allows achieving high density pinning of up to 6.144 contact points per plate.

How does it work?

After pinning the radial growth of the colonies is monitored as a quantitative fitness parameter. Applications include the following: chemogenomics, systematic genetic analysis, high-throughput screening of ordered libraries against to substances, and more.
