Verena Winiwarter is professor of environmental history (one of a kind in Austria) at the Institute of Social Ecology at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna.

She studies the environmental history of pre-industrial Austria and the global history of legacy sites.

In her keynote she will address human well being from the perspective of ecological long-term research.
