For one month, the rainbow flag is flying at BOKU – a symbol that much has already been achieved. At the same time, tendencies of discrimination and violent attacks against LGBTIQ* lifestyles are present every day.
The university as the highest educational institution has a great role model effect. A fundamental value in this question is the common respectful attitude regarding diverse lifestyles and family designs, sexual orientations as well as different gender identities and gender expressions.
One month of increased LGBTIQ*-visibility therefore means for us: engaging in awareness, capacity building, and safer spaces every day of the year.
