Use of rapeseed expeller in diets for growing pigs

Summary

In this experiment the use of 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 % rapeseed expeller of a 00-strain was tested in a pelleted all mash feed for growing pigs. Rapeseed expeller replaced soybean meal and barley. For each group 12 pigs in two boxes were reared from 12 to 28 kg live weight. The use of 15 and 20 % rapeseed expeller resulted in decreasing daily weight gain about 16 and 19 % respectively (P= 0,005) and also in decreasing feed conversion about 26 and 21 % respectively (P= 0,034). From this experiment it can be concluded that the use of 10 % rapeseed expeller for feeding of growing pigs will not affect performance of rearing pigs. Key words: feeding, rapeseed expeller, growing pigs.
