The Octet R8e from Sartorius enables label-free analysis of biomolecular interactions using biolayer interferometry (BLI). The instrument operates in a dip-and-read format in 96- and 384-well plates allowing measurements directly in complex matrices or only partially purified samples. Up to eight interactions can be analysed simultaneously, enabling efficient kinetic measurements and high-throughput screening. The system monitors binding events in real time and allows determination of binding kinetics and affinities between proteins, antibodies, nucleic acids, and other biomolecules. The sample reusability and sample volumes as low as 40 µL is particularly advantageous when working with limited or valuable samples. Typical applications include binding characterization, epitope binning, and concentration analysis.
