We study the distribution, ecology, and conservation of species and habitats, particularly in the context of land use changes and climate change. Our organismic foal points include higher plants and wild bees in open agricultural landscapes (such as dry habitats, fallow land, and flower strips in the agricultural landscape, meadows, alpine pastures, and urban areas). We also have expertise in grasshoppers and herpetofauna. We conduct basic research as foundation for conservation measures, e.g. in protected areas and for subsidized environmental programs (Austrian Agri-Environmental Program - ÖPUL) and monitor and evaluate their implementation in collaboration with NGOs, authorities, and farmers.
