StartClim 2025 Call open for submission
"StartClim" is a research program that helps tackle new approaches to research. In collaboration with the Federal Environment Agency, innovative projects addressing current issues related to the Austrian Adaptation Strategy are funded for the 23rd consecutive year.
The issues addressed by "StartClim 2025" fall under three categories:
- Reappraisal of flooding and heavy rainfall events in September 2024; Lessons Learned: Improving Preparation and Management of Such Disasters
- Increasing acceptance of climate-relevant measures
- Success factors for governance structures that enable and accelerate transformation across sectors and local authorities.
Project ideas that do not fit the specified issues may once again submit an application on a freely chosen topic related to the Austrian Adaptation Strategy this year.
Each project will receive a maximum budget of 25,000 euros (including all taxes and ancillary costs).
The funding rate is 100%, and 25% overhead must be calculated on personnel costs.
Even if a contract for work and services is awarded, these projects are handled as a grant (“Antragsforschung”).
Joint submissions with the Federal Environment Agency are expressly encouraged. For joint project ideas or inquiries about project partners, please contact the coordination office (martin.tschikof(at)umweltbundesamt.at).
