Working Group on Water Analysis and QA-Systems
Interlaboratory Comparisons for Water Analysis
The Institute of Bioanalytics and Agro-Metabolomics puts a focus on Quality Assurance (QA) in Analytical Chemistry. The working group has organised frequent interlaboratory comparisons for external QA within the National Monitoring Programme of the Quality of Ground and Surface Water in Austria since 1994. For the contractors of the monitoring programme, participation is obligatory. Other laboratories, which are active in the field of water analysis, may take part voluntarily in the interlaboratory comparisons. In 2010, more than 200 laboratories from Europe participated in our proficiency testing (PT) scheme. A short description of the current underlying research project is available in the BOKU Research Documentation. Please visit us on www.ifatest.eu when you are interested in our PT scheme.
Scientific Co-Operation with UWM Olsztyn
Since 2004, there is a scientific collaboration with the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, Poland (Prof. Dr. Marian Wiwart). Aim of this research is the characterisation of ancient hulled wheat species like spelt, einkorn and emmer, whereas the less common spring varieties are of special interest. Numerous samples of lines that were grown on experimantal fields in Mazury were analyzed for trace elements as well as for mycotoxins in the Institute of Bioanalytics and Agro-Metabolomics. The results were published in scientific journals (see list in the BOKU research documentation) .
