About WEEK

WEEK – "Women LLL Education and Empowerment in Kenya" – is a joint research initiative between the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU), and Turkana University College (TUC). The project aims to establish lifelong learning as a strategic tool for empowering women in Turkana County, Kenya. WEEK explores the feasibility of setting up a lifelong learning unit at TUC to provide women with access to education, thereby promoting autonomy and economic inclusion.

Project Goals

The project pursues several objectives: designing a lifelong learning concept for TUC, identifying the educational needs of women in Turkana, and piloting a train-the-trainer course in geodata management. It also aims to examine barriers to female education, develop inclusive teaching strategies, and establish sustainable local learning networks.
