World-Café: Transformation towards Sustainability: Novel Perspectives from Social Ecology

Societies will need to undergo important transformations to face critical sustainability challenges. Leading these transformations requires a better understanding of nature-society interactions, to which the field of social ecology can contribute. We, young doctoral students at the Institute of Social Ecology, proposed a world café format to discuss these issues. Each of us pitched their current socio-ecological research and invited participants to join these discussions at individual tables in an intimate and time-bound setting. The session provided BOKU students and other participants new perspectives on how social ecology is tackling complex nature-society interactions and forging common sustainable futures.

With and organized by: Nicolas Roux and early-stage Researchers and PhD candidates from the Institute of Social Ecology (SEC), Manan Bhan, Anna Brenner, Lisa Kaufmann, Nora Krenmayr, Jan Streek, Hans-Peter Wieland (also at Wirtschaft Universität, Vienna)
