BIOSS - Biosphere reserves as models for science-society interaction to spur sustainability transformations in mountainous areas and beyond
The four central target groups for interaction for the BIOSS project are: BR management, BR science staff, National Committees and researchers affiliated in projects located in mountainous BRs of the Alpine DACH region.
Inter-transdisciplinary Dialogue Group
The BIOSS project has established a Dialogue Group consisting of members of mountainous BRs of the Alpine DACH region and academic experts in science-society interaction. This group will provide continuous feedback to the BIOSS team and engage in active knowledge co-creation throughout the project.

Collaborate with us in our Global Study
- We are looking for BR in mountainous areas that are interested in collaborating with us and participating as an international case-study area.
- We kindly request that participants provide us with existing documents such as BR periodic reviews and 5-year management plans
- Your level of involvement is flexible and can range from participation in a short survey to a case-study visit
If you're interested, please contact Ass.Prof. Priv.-Doz. Dr. Katharina Gugerell at Katharina.Gugerell(at)boku.ac.at or Alexander Mitrofanenko at Alexander.Mitrofanenko(at)boku.ac.at.
With the participation of stakeholders from diverse mountain biosphere reserves, MAB National Committees, and scientists, BIOSS will generate impactful insights on how science-society interaction can drive sustainability transformations in mountainous areas and beyond.
