Rationale of the Workshop
We are pleased to invite you to the Workshop “Bio-based Economy and the EU Regional Strategy - Developing the Danube Region”, jointly organized by the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU), The ICA Regional Network for Central and South Eastern Europe (CASEE) and the Institute for the Danube and Central Europe (IDM). Its major objectives are:
- to discuss and to identify main challenges in the development of a bio-based economy and its implications for agricultural policy.
- to develop and propose co-ordinated recommendations for the implementation of the Horizon 2020 - the future Framework Programme for Research and Innovation as well as the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) with a particular focus on the development of a bio-based economy.
- to explore possible synergies and increased use of structural funds in co-operation with research funds in order to support a well-balanced development of ERA with special emphasis on the Danube Region.
The outcome of the workshop will be summarized in a memorandum.
