Dove internal project meeting (23.-24.03.26) AGAQ/GRAQA open meeting (25.-28.03.26) In Pont-en-Royans (Isere, France)

GENERAL INFORMATION

An internal DOVE project meeting will take place from 23.-24.03.26 with a subsequent open AGAQ (DACH countries)-GRAQA (France) meeting that will take place from 25. to 28.03.2025 in Pont-en-Royans (Isere, France). It is organized by Pierre Valla, Christian Crouzet, Romain Delunel and Markus Fiebig.

Prices and information:

  • Full board hotel room (night + breakfast + lunch + dinner) €98/day/person
  • Hotel rooms are twin or single rooms (31 rooms in total)
  • Tourist tax €1.76/day/person

TRAVEL INFORMATION

Let us know if you need any further information regarding the transport to Pont-en-Royans. The site is easily accessible by car/minibus (1h30 from Lyon, 2h30 from Geneva). 

By train, the closest station is Saint-Hilaire-Saint-Nazaire (10 min drive from Pont-en-Royans), which is accessible directly from Geneva/Chambery/Grenoble or from Valence TGV (with connections to Lyon, Paris etc.). A shuttle service will be organized on Monday 23.03 for arrivals (and during the week for late arrivals/early departures). On Saturday 28.03, we will drive people with train transport directly to Grenoble or Chambery stations.

Thursday 26.03.26 Excursion: Plio-Quaternary sediment history of the Bievre valley (Chambaran-Bonnevaux plateaus) – C. Crouzet, R. Delunel and C. Fraysse

Excursion points:

  • Pre- to Early Quaternary fluvial foreland deposits
  • Fluvio-glacial and till sequences along the Bievre valley (including Burettes - DOVE-2 site 7)
  • LGM glacial morainic complex and Isere glacier oscillations

Friday, 27.03.2026 Excursion: Late Pleistocene reconstruction of peripheral to foreland glaciation around the Vercors massif – C. Crouzet, V. Mai Yung Sen and P. Valla

Excursion points:

  • Pont-en-Royans area: fluvial terrasse sequences at the Bourne/Isere confluence
  • Bourne fluvial gorges and karstic caves: fluvial incision and (peri)glacial influence on karst dynamics
  • Les Guillets plateau: erosion/deposition records of late Pleistocene glacial oscillations

Saturday, 28.03.26 Excursion (half day): Late Pleistocene history of the Gresivaudan valley and natural hazards – C. Crouzet, B. Féaud, R. Delunel and P. Valla  

Excursion points: 

  • Gravel pit in the Combe de Savoie (post-MIS6 sediment infill up to LGM glaciation) – Nearby Ste Hélène - DOVE-2 site 8
  • Granier rockfall deposits (historical) + lunchtime
  • End: around 2 pm between Grenoble and Chambery
