Lehrinhalt

The PhD students of the Doctoral School HR21 will meet regularly within the Doctoral Seminar discuss current research, or present topics related to their research concept, or discuss key literature.
The topic of the WS 2024 is "Integrated water quantity and quality management for river restoration".

Presentations will be comprehensively discussed within the group of students and faculty members of the doctoral school. The Doctoral Seminar provides the opportunity to discuss both the theoretical background and methodological aspects of the PhD research in a larger group. A Doctoral Seminar will be held each semester and the students are committed to participate. If a student has a research stay abroad, the student is expected to participate in an equivalent seminar at their respective host institution, or to join the Doctoral Seminar at BOKU via online means.
Inhaltliche Voraussetzungen (erwartete Kenntnisse)

The seminar is only open for HR21 PhD students.
Lehrziel

Upon completion of this course, the students will be able to:
* integrate relevant information from a broader scientific field into their research
* orally present their research, in a well-structured manner, to an interdisciplinary scientific audience
* defend their research and answer questions pertaining to their research and methods
* critically evaluate scientific findings
* provide thoughtful comments about scientific concepts from related scientific disciplines
