Lehrinhalt

This interdisciplinary course introduces students to the core ideas and practical relevance of nature-based solutions (NbS) as approaches for local and regional climate change adaptation.Students explore international policy frameworks, socio-ecological dimensions, and participatory co-design approaches for NbS. Using real-world case studies, they critically reflect on benefits, trade-offs, and implementation challenges, and develop ideas for applying NbS in their own regional or institutional contexts.

Inhaltliche Voraussetzungen (erwartete Kenntnisse)

Interest in climate change adaptation, sustainability planning, and nature-based approaches. Basic knowledge of environmental or spatial planning is helpful but not mandatory.

Lehrziel

After completing this course, students will be able to:define and explain the main concepts and policy frameworks of nature-based solutions for climate adaptation,identify and discuss key socio-ecological and governance dimensions of NbS,apply basic evaluation frameworks (e.g. IUCN criteria) to reflect on NbS examples,develop and communicate ideas for locally relevant nature-based approaches,critically reflect on the potentials and limitations of NbS,create activities for capacity building in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary settings.
