AER team participated at the “Tropical Agro-ecosystems Conference” on Ssese Islands in Lake Victora, Kalangala District, Uganda.

In the second week of December 2017 the team of the APPEAR Project Strengthening of Higher Education, Research and Community Outreach in Agro-Ecology in the Rwenzori Region in Western Uganda  AER participated in the “Tropical Agro-ecosystems Conference” which took place on the Ssese Islands in Lake Victora, Kalangala District, Uganda.

The aim of the conference was to exchange knowledge, strengthen the agroecological network and to foster agroecological policy implementation in tropical areas, but especially in Uganda.

The conference was co-organised by the AER-Team from Mountains of the Moon University, Fort Portal and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU) in coordination with other organisations.

Head of the AER-Project Prof. Dr. Bernhard Freyer delivered a key note speech and seven AER-team members from the BOKU and the Mountains of the Moon University presented several research topics in poster sessions. Among them, the two APPEAR-scholarship holder presented their PhD endeavours.
