Preis für Diversität in der Lehre

Ika Darnhofer ist für ihre Lehrveranstaltung 'Organisational behaviour and Gender issues' im Rahmen des Diversity Day am 3. Juni 2026 mit dem Hauptpreis für Diversität in der Lehre ausgezeichnet worden.

Impact of policy incentives on grassland management

In an ex-ante econometric analysis, H. Schaak, J. Kantelhardt, L. Schaller and colleagues show the strong decrease of farm gross margins in case study regions in Estonia, The Netherlands and Romania, should current agri-environmental policy payments be removed.

Where do agricultural economists publish?

In collaboration with colleagues, J. Kantelhardt analysed the data of a survey of 304 agricultural economists from Austria, Germany and Switzerland to explore their publishing patterns and journal selection criteria.

How robust are analyses?

H. Schaak contributed as a reanalyst to a large-scale project investigating the analytical robustness of the social and behavioral sciences. Empirical claims from 100 published papers were assessed by at least 5 independent re-analyses of the original data.

Knowledge barriers to agroforestry adoption

V. Scherfranz and L. Schaller co-authored a paper where they present the results of a quantitative assessment of farmers' perception of 12 agroforestry systems against eight perceptions. Discussions in a multi-actor workshop allowed to identify solutions to overcome the identified barriers.

Climate change and ecosystem services

J. Kantelhardt and L. Schaller were among the lead authors of the chapter on 'Climate change, land use, ecosystem services and health' of the Second Austrian Assessment Report on Climate Change

Integration of peatland in the CAP

R. Nordbeck, K. Hogl and L. Schaller published a paper in which they assess to what extend the protection and management of peatland was integrated in the current CAP strategic plans of all 27 EU Member States. They analyse the types of measures that have been designed by Member States and to what extend they may contribute to achieving the binding targets set for 2030.

How profitable are soil conservation practices in light of climate change?

J. Zeilinger, J. Kantelhardt and A. Niedermayr published a paper in which they investigate the factors affecting (i) the adoption of soil conservation practices offered in the Austrian agri-environmental program ÖPUL and (ii) how the adoption of these measures affects profitability of farms in light of climate change.

A critical view on publicly available datasets

How does openly available data on agricultural land systems differ between the EU and USA? Together with colleagues from Austria, Germany and the USA, A. Niedermayr published a paper, where they compare openly available data on agricultural land systems in the EU & USA and how this data in turn shapes what researchers in each of the two regions can(not) see.

Why do farmers participate in result-based schemes?

T. Eichhorn, J. Kantelhardt and L. Schaller have published a paper in which they use a Structural Equation Model to assess the influence of socio-psychological factors such as self-efficacy and perceived risk, on farmers' participation in agri-environmental schemes aimed at improving biodiversity and soil quality.
