The integration of students and employees with disabilities or chronic/mental illnesses is an important concern for the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences.

For this reason a special office was established in 2010 in order to ensure equal access to all services and offers of BOKU for the target group and to reduce possible "barriers". Since January 2021 a new Coordination Office for Gender Equality, Diversity and Accessibility was established.

The Coordination Office is headed by Ruth Scheiber-Herzog, who remains the Disability Representative at BOKU and is primarily responsible for the areas of disability, accessible BOKU and diversity.
