The BOKU female Inventor of the Year, the BOKU Invention of the Year and the BOKU Start-up of the Year - these prizes have been awarded annually at BOKU since 2019. Behind all of these awards are projects that require a lot of work, creativity, commitment, dedication and perseverance. The awards are intended to encourage researchers to continue realising BOKU's mission as an innovation leader of a green economy with the aim of integrating sustainability into all processes in society. The researchers and their inventions are the engine of innovation, because every innovation begins with an invention.

BOKU Female Inventor of the Year

For the BOKU female Inventor of the Year Award, female inventors are given centre stage to serve as inspiration and role models for other female scientists, as women are still involved in inventions at a below-average rate. BOKU Invention of the Year

The BOKU Invention of the Year Award is intended to honour the idea and innovative character of an invention and, above all, to recognise the most outstanding achievement in the field of protectable innovation. Every year, the Research Support, Innovation & Technology Transfer/Technology Transfer receives around 20 invention reports, and a jury selects a winning team from the reports of previous years. Young companies that are based on innovative business ideas and have a BOKU connection can apply for the BOKU Start-up of the Year competition. A jury will select a winning team from the entries. To the award winners
