This material combination joins the natural optics and haptic of wood with the higher weather resistance and free mouldability of thermoplastics.

Already at the beginning of the research activities at Institute for Natural Materials Technology biobased thermoplastic moulding compounds made of corn, wood flour and natural resins were developed for injection moulding and extrusion, patent-registered under "Fasal" (http://www.fasal.at/) and "Fasalex". To establish these products also for outdoor applications thermoplastics and additives are used instead of natural resins and corn.
