Since the academic year 2004/05, all study programmes follow the Bachelor and Master system. Every programme has a classification number allocated, which is called a "Studienkennzahl" (study code number). "H" is BOKU's classification letter.
A Bachelor programme consists of courses and other requirements which are worth a total of 180 ECTS credits. This is equivalent to 6 semesters full-time studying. Graduates of a Bachelor programme are awarded the academic title „Bachelor of Science“, abbreviated as „BSC or B.Sc.“.
A Master programme consists of courses and other requirements which are worth a total of 120 ECTS credits. This is equivalent to studying for 4 semesters (full-time). Graduates of a Master programme are awarded the academic title “Diplom-Ingenieur” (m) or “Diplom-Ingenieurin” (f), abbreviated as “Dipl.-Ing./ Dipl.-Ing.in” or “DI/DIin” OR "Master of Science", abbreviated as "MSC or M.Sc." (the academic title awarded depends on the study programme).
Attention: A precondition for enrolment in a Master programme is the completion of a Bachelor programme.
