Its aim is to support and promote emerging researchers from all disciplines in the field of communication and to recognise outstanding communication achievements. This enables current research results and innovations to be communicated to the public and their social relevance to be highlighted. BOKU University competence areas BOKU University has made a deliberate effort not to define its own range of competencies along strict disciplinary lines. The alternative path that we have chosen is very much a bottom-up approach and is organised according to theme. The core areas of research and research strengths at BOKU University, as well as the underlying third-party strategies, are represented using six competence areas. Citizen Science Citizen Science, in simple terms, is the involvement of citizens in scientific research and has experienced a tremendous upswing in recent years. BOKU University has not only been home to Citizen Science projects for many years, it is also the coordinating body of the Citizen Science Network Austria, which coordinates the platform Österreich forscht.
