In the field "Forest ecosystem modelling" the Institute of Silviculture develops and applys different kind of models (PICUS, MOSES, BGC, iLand). Those models help to illustrate and understand the pocesses of the complex system of a given ecosytem (e.g.: photosynthesis, interactions between individual trees) and their interacton to disturbances (e.g.: climate change, wind, fire) or silvicultural management strategies.
