Wood K Plus and the Institute

The team "Sustainable Innovation and Impact Assessment" of Wood K plus (Kompetenzzentrum Holz GmbH) is affiliated to the Institute for Marketing and Innovation as an independent research group. Wood K plus is a leading research institution for wood and related renewable raw materials in Europe. Our core competencies lie in materials research and process technology along the entire value chain – from raw materials to the finished product. In doing so, we develop methods and principles and conduct applied research.

Dr. Franziska Hesser is leading the Wood K plus team “Sustainable Innovation and Impact Assessment” and is specialized in research at the interface of technology and society with the aim of successfully shaping sustainable innovation processes by providing tailor-made information on economic, social and environmental issues. The research fields are innovation research and technology assessment as well as the societal acceptance of bio-based innovations with a participatory approach to integrate actors’ knowledge, needs and values into Life Cycle Assessment. The overall aim of the research team is to generate actionable sustainability knowledge during technological R&D projects to anticipate unintended side effects and support their contribution towards sustainable development.
