Planning and implementing the agroecological demonstration farm at the MMU

A main objective of the AER project is to build capacities in Agroecology on different levels in the Ruwenzori region. At MMU the AER project implements activities aiming for staff training, the development and implementation of the Master curriculum in Agroecology and the establishment of an AE demonstration farm at Saaka Campus of MMU.

During the AER meeting in August 2019 – jointly organised by members from MMU and BOKU, Vienna taking place at MMU in Fort Portal – the workshop was focusing on reviewing the existing course units of the curriculum in Agroecology(AE) and the establishment of the planning and implementation of the agroecological demonstration farm at the MMU.

In-field visits brought the AER-team to farmer´s communities to exercise the case- study learning approach of their teaching units together and to deepen their understanding of farm systems analyses as well as community outreach.
