Applications

The Bruker MALDI TOF is a robust system allowing the analysis of peptides, glycans, lipids and intact proteins. The identification of molecules is possible by determining the mass to charge ratio or by performing additionally MS/MS experiments. To a limited extend quantification of analytes is possible as well.

Matrix assisted laser desorption ionization is coupled to a time of flight detector, providing a robust system for determining the mass of biomolecules. The main advantage of MALDI is the speed of the analysis (time to result) and easy handling. The MALDI-TOF rapifleX provides improved specificity and resolution with a mass range up to 8000 m/z. It is equipped with a 10 kHz scanning smartbeam 3D laser, for throughput up to 20 times faster than traditional MALDI-TOF systems.
A variety of matrices are available to selectively ionize certain molecule classes.
