There are three formats for the exchange of contacts in GroupWise: 

  • Novell Address Book Format (.nab) - GroupWise's own format for the exchange with other Groupwise users.
  • VCard (.vcf) - Format to pass on one or several contacts as business card
  • Comma-Separated Test File (.csv) - Basic format that can be imported in a large number of programs, e.g. MS Excel

In addition, address books may also be shared within the GroupWise system. 

Importing Contacts

In order to import contacts, select File -> Import... in the address book application.

In the following window you can select and confirm the file that you wish to import. You can then either choose an already existing address book or create a new one using New. The data are imported once you press the OK button.

Exporting Contacts

In order to export contacts, mark the respective contacts or the address book. You start the exporting process by clicking on File -> Export....

In the following window you can choose between the entire address book or the marked entries.

Next you can define the file and storage location as well as the format of the fine. The contacts are saved once you press the OK button.

Sharing Address Books

If you wish others to have access to your address books, you have to explicitly allows every individual user to do so.

You do so by marking the address book and then selecting File -> Sharing. In the following window you add the GroupWise user who you wish to be granted the access authorization and define whether the user may only read the addresses (Read only) or should also be allowed to add to them (All).

In the following window you have the option to send a short message to the users so that they can then attach the address book.

The users then accept by pressing OK and receive a short message telling them that the additional address book has been authorized for them. This can be included in a window that appears automatically.
