The fungal biorefinery offers resource-efficient production and enables material recycling. The project 'Fungal Biorefinery' aims to utilize waste feedstocks, such as industrial and anthropogenic waste, to create novel materials, such as mycelium composites. Another goal is to investigate fungal bioremediation and bioprocessing to gain a deeper scientific understanding of the metabolic capabilities of fungi in terms of biodegradation, biosorption and mycoremediation.
