Scholarship
The Joint Study grant consists of the following elements: Scholarship per month (4x) + travel allowance (1x) + fee subsidy (1x360€; Australia: €720) + in certain cases: vaccination subsidy (max. 300€ of the proven vaccination costs) + possibly a special expense allowance (max. €300)

Travel allowance
A maximum of 1412 Euro
If you apply for a study place at a university which has tuition fee, you can make a request for an one-time grant of 300 Euro.
Grant for special costs (fee subsidy) ( visa, health care etc.)
360 Euro*
*Attention! Due to the recent significant price increase of the Australian student visa, exceptionally only applicants who have selected Australia as their target country will receive a fee subsidy of €720 instead of €360.
Vaccination cost subsidy:
A maximum of €300 of the proven vaccination costs can be covered for vaccinations that are recommended by the WHO for the target country. The vaccination cost subsidy must be requested when applying.
If you can provide proof of a WHO vaccination recommendation for a specific country, you can apply for an additional grant of up to a maximum of 300 euros in addition to the joint study scholarship. Please specify in the application. Tuition fees at the host university
Please consider that you are free of tuition fees at the host university due to the bilateral agreement. According to the host university the tuition fees are between 5000 Euro and 25000 Euro. That means you are applying for a study place and for a scholarship.
However:
Various fees as the university health cover, transportation fee, sports facilities fees etc. and the student visa has to be paid by yourself! You have to anticipate these costs of an amount between 300 and 700 Euros.
Minimal demand of ECTS
The minimal demand for ECTS is 3 ECTS per month at the host university.
Cancellation
In case of cancellation of the student if it is not an act of nature beyond control (for example: illness, pregnancy), you have to pay a cancellation fee of 50 euro. From October 2026: 70 Euro.
Reimbursement:
You are required to repay the funds in the event of unauthorized receipt, misuse of the scholarship or travel grant, or failure to comply with reporting requirements.
In cases where additional funding exceeds the requested scholarship amount, repayment may be ordered; the Study Abroad Advisory Board decides on additional funding on a case-by-case basis.
Please inform us as soon as possible of any additional funding.
The grant does not include insurance. Please check with your insurance company before you start your journey to determine whether you are entitled to insurance in the destination country.

Additional Scholarships
In this regard, please check on your own to see if there are any other funding opportunities available.
For example, Murdoch University awards every two semesters the Gerald Frank Brown Scholarship for Semester 1, and in Japan, there is the JASSO scholarship.
If additional funding is received that exceeds the amount of the scholarship applied for, repayment of the Joint Study Scholarship may be required; the Study Abroad Advisory Board decides on additional funding on a case-by-case basis.
