The aim of this course is to acquire certain skills that are necessary to be able to discuss with experts in the Spanish cultural sphere: the specialized vocabulary relevant to BOKU studies is learned and deepened, professional texts are analyzed and reports on BOKU-relevant topics are discussed and commented on. The students hold subject-specific presentations. In addition, the course includes a distance learning module that requires students to work independently. In this distance learning module, supplementary materials on Bokulearn are offered to extend the chapters of the script and to present specific case studies from different Spanish-speaking regions. Through this extension, historical and socio-cultural content of the Spanish-speaking world and the different varieties of Spanish will be covered. The activities in this module will be presented using authentic audiovisual material and academic texts where possible. These activities will be supported by comprehension and collaboration tasks on the Bokulearn platform. The target group of the course are students who have successfully passed Spanish IV or students with very good language skills acquired during stays abroad in Spain or Latin America.
