As part of the four-day external audit at the end of November 2023 by the auditors from TÜV Süd, the entire BOKU was successfully audited and certified. On December 11, 2023, the certificate (see photo) was presented in a small and festive ceremony. BOKU is now the first fully ISO 45001:2018 certified university in Austria - we are very proud of this! This was only possible thanks to the great cooperation and assistance of everyone involved from the departments, the central administration and the support of the Rectorate!

And as the saying goes: after the audit is before the audit - we are taking this as an opportunity to build on this high level.

ISO 45001:2018 Occupational health and safety

The University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna is one of the first universities in Austria to tackle the implementation of ISO 45001.

These management systems for safety and health at work support the promotion and protection of the physical and mental health of both employees and students.

Through the efforts of BOKU to achieve continuous improvement in the workplaces of your employees and internal and external processes, goals such as:

  • Safer and healthy workplaces
  • Clear and structured work
  • Defined responsibilities and a clear division of labor
  • Improved communication channels
  • Easier integration of new employees
  • Defined reintegration process
  • Increase in motivation and qualifications

can be achieved together as a team.

In March 2020, the Department of Chemistry was the first department at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, to successfully implement ISO45001.
