The meteorological monitoring network in the Lehrforst Rosalia

In order to record small-scale climate variations, such as mountain/valley wind systems, inversion weather conditions, etc., three climate stations were set up in 1981 in three different topographical situations:

Heuberg (crest 656m above sea level)

Kuhwald (middle slope 503m above sea level)

Mehlbeerleiten (valley location 383m above sea level)

The stations were planned from a forest meteorological point of view and therefore do not comply with WMO standards.

One of the criteria for the choice of location was not least the possibility of supplying mains electricity (220V single-phase) because of the heating required for the Hellmann precipitation recorders in winter.

In 1990, the stations were converted to digital data acquisition and recording using data loggers (Delta-T DL2).

In 1997, the precipitation recorders were replaced by precipitation scales.

In 2018, a new station was installed in the Krieriegel area in order to better record the small-scale precipitation situation in the Grasriegelgraben catchment area.

The following measuring stations are operated by the Institute of Hydrology and Water Management:

K1 Heuberg

K2 Mehlbeerleiten

K3 Krieriegel

The following measured variables are recorded at these stations:

Relative humidity
Air temperature
Precipitation
