Professorship in

Animal Cell Factory Design

This professorship is available within the Department of Biotechnology as from Winter Semester 2009/10 and encompasses teaching, administrative and research duties. The position is initially available for two years (§ 99 University Law 2002). The teaching activities of the successful candidate encompass:

  • teaching of courses on the biotechnology of cell factories
  • supervision of bachelor and master thesis
  • supervision of doctoral students
  • conducting seminars
  • willingness to hold courses in both German and English

The focus of the research of the appointee will be:

  • establishment of recombinant cell lines, especially those expressing complex proteins
  • molecular biological development of expression systems
  • chimaerisation and humanisation of proteins
  • modelling of antibodies and expression of antibody variants in animal cells
  • establishment of innovative screening technologies for animal cell cultures
  • characterisation of recombinant animal cell lines by conventional and ‘omics methodologies
